So I was thinking...it really sucks to be a girl sometimes. You have more pressure than boys to look good, wear fashionable clothes, be a certain weight/shape, wear makeup, and maybe most annoying WE HAVE PERIODS!!!! Ugh! Is there anything worse than Mother Nature coming unexpectedly?!?! I mean seriously, it's the worst!
Sometimes I wish the crimson waves were controlled by a switch. Like, okay I'm married now and am ready for kids. Switch on, let's do this. I guess that's not the Almighty's plan but man it is rough being a girl sometimes. And the thing is guys don't get it! They just have no idea! "oh, it's her time of the month. Stay away." What? What? Why are you such a dick. You just don't know!!!! "Can't let a woman be president, we'd be at war once a month!" Okay bucko you try dealing with this! You know they can't they are WAAAAY to weak to live a normal(ish) life when 'that time' comes.
And you know the kicker is guys run the companies that create the products we have to use during that time. What do they know about it? And don't even get me started on the commercials! (Except for the one awesome one last year.) On top of everything we have to go through when on our period we have to pay a shit load (kind of) for all the damn products we need just because that's the way we were born! I'm sorry but do guys have to do that?!? I don't think so and condoms don't count because girls have to buy them too!
You know the worst part of getting your period is when you're in middle school and it's still really new. And you don't know who else has had their period and where I went to middle school you couldn't carry a purse or anything and our pockets were a joke AND you were discouraged from going to the bathroom during class! People there are only 4 classrooms in 1 hallway! Everybody could figure out your business! PLUS it's middle school. IT JUST SUCKS!!!!!
Okay, whole point was I somehow got on this train of thought today (it's not even my time of the month). And it occurred to me that if I ever have my own company I'm going to let women have a certain number of Red Days a year. So it would equal out to 1-2 days a month they can take where they don't have to come in the office (or whatever). Now, they'd still be responsible for their work and be responsible for doing their part of making the business run smoothly but who wants to get dressed up and be nice and professional on days when it's really bad? No one. This way they can do their work in their comfy sweats and not have to shower and they can eat chocolate to their hearts content. There would also be no judgment by the men of the business cuz if they did I'd fire their asses! Who knows, maybe my business will be President of the United States. It could happen. :)
So to any of you out there who are having your own troubles with your monthly visitor know that there are people out there who feel you and fully support you taking a Red Day. Hang in there girlfriend!
I look forward to being a part of your amazing theoretical company some day. HOWEVER! To promote a more egalitarian work place I vote males get the same amount of responsible work-at-home-time off. Or else they'll get whiney. And they should be like, rollover days. So that they can accumulate and work from home for like, a whole week. But if people are going to use them in that manner, there will have to be a schedule, so we still have actual persons in the workplace... K, just thought I'd throw in my 2 cents :)
ReplyDeleteI appreciate your 2 cents. You would def have to be a part of the company to keep things fair. Because frankly I would not be inclined to. :)
