Well so far I've held out on buying (than God for DVRs) but I have definitely done my fair share of googling and Amazoning (real words right?) Gordon MacRae and Doris Day and their movies On Moonlight Bay and By The Light of the Silver Moon.

BTLSM is actually the sequal to OMB. It is a darling story of a family in a small Indiana town around the time of World War I. Marjorie (Doris Day) is a tomboy who falls in love with local College Man Bill Sherman (Gordon MacRae). The two experience the ups and downs of love and get themselves into some interesting situations with the help of their fellow characters. Marjorie's brother Wesley is constantly getting into one mischief of another. Nosy housekeeper Stella (Mary Wickes) sticks her nose in it. And mom and dad (dad is played by dad in Meet Me In St. Louis) are somewhat oblivious.
These movies are so cute. I love Love LOVE them! I want to be on Moonlight Bay! I want my honey to croon to me! (Have to have a honey for crooning to commence but that's beside the point.) It is an idyllic time in American history, especially in this small town. It is a sweet story of young love and the importance of family. Not to mention lovely songs with fantastic performances by Doris and Gordon. (Who I've decided I really like together. Guess the studio agreed with that since they made several movies together.) I DVRed these movies at my gmas and have already watched them several times. They make a wonderful addition to my list of holiday movies (although they aren't holiday movies in the traditional sense) and I'm looking forward to watching them over, and over, and over again. Maybe with my BFFs? :)
